Today's City Weekly came out.
Interesting choice of words--"came out"--perhaps, as the six of us candidates vying for votes in the Salt Lake City District 3 City Council Race were asked a series of questions, including what we think of the word "gayborhood." (This question coming on the heels of last week's CW cover story (Gay Activism in Utah: Can the gay community find new reasons to rally?)
See if you can correctly identify which three candidates have been given a "positive recommendation" by Equality Utah!
City Weekly: What do you think of the word “gayborhood”?
Aho: That’s what they call the Marmalade area over there. It’s kind of cute.
Allcott: I don’t use that term or know what it means.
Carroll: We have a successful community, and designating some neighborhood as one way or the other is unfortunate.
Johnson: It makes me smile.
Penfold: It’s an odd name for a neighborhood, but I think it’s trying to reflect it’s a safe place for gay and lesbian people.
Sharifi: I think it has a nice ring to it. It sounds fun.
